Donks build

Postby Donk on Mon Jul 22, 2013 5:16 pm

Gday thought would introduce my cruiser. Have only had her for about 5 weeks but love it already 8-) Little bit of a diffrence to the lux alot more power and solider, hopefully less drams then the lux  :? Still on my Green Ps so cant really test out her true power but shes enough for me  Shes a 2010 workmate with 105,000km on the clock. Picked her up with an arb bar and GME uhf. So pretty stock. Since ive had it ive put on

Speedy territory rims
micky thompson 285/75 atz 4 ribs
arb side steps
arb scrub bars
Ultimate suspensions 2 inch lift 8-)
ARB wet seat covers
7ft uhf aerial
Lightforce 55w hid
Cteck charger
ARB compressor
Dual batteries
Baintech Volt meter
Fuel manager/water trap

Future mods:

70l water tank
winch
finish my alloy gullwing canopy
Build a steel tray for her

This was my lux i parted with

Well went to ARB to pick up my battery tray the other day and being a typical male in a 4x4 shop i walked out a an ARB compressor aswell  Since i couldnt fit it under bonnet due to Cteck and fm100 fuel water trap thats on its way i choose to put it behind drivers seat.

Ran all the wires under the plastic foot sill gaurd. They were all long enough except the power and earth cables. And had to make a bracket to sit it up abit off the floor. Will grab photos of it wired up when i get a chance

Re: Donks build pre filter/water separator in

Postby Donk on Sun Aug 18, 2013 6:12 pm

Today i fitted up my standadyne fm100 fuel water separator. Purchased the unit from diesel care in tamworth. Didn't buy the kit as i didn't want to put it under the bonnet and could sorce hoses and fittings cheaper. Just made a simple bracket out of 50x5 angle and bolted it up under the tray. Cut into the supply line and connected on some 1/2 hose and returned it to the supply line with 1/2 hose. Mind the zip ties forgot to grab the hose clamps   They shouldnt pop off tho on fairly tight.

Image

Also remounted my compressor to the other side which saved running another 2 cables through the drivers side grommet and across the back of the engine bay  The switch harness was just long enough to run under the vinnel, under the kick gaurd on the door sill and up to the switch

Well done Ross fitting the filter outside the cab is a practical idea. Ive only seen it done on trucks before.

Thanks kyle, My thought of it being there is less restrictions more room in engine bay and less hose. Although im gonna have to cut out a sheet of chequer plate to bolt on and hide it. My fear is its vissible and bright, which usually catches the wrong persons eye

Thanks alby, The only thing i dont like about it being under the tray is it attracts unwanted attention. To easy to drain diesel out.

4200kms out around the corner country and must say the diesel was actually pretty good. Few droplets from tibboburra (did put around 100ltrs in tho) And a few more from Cunamulla, tho after i fueled up found out the fuel truck had just topped the diesel tanks up

Been a while since i updated this. Took her for a late night 4x4 up the local spot to actually test her out and climbed Ashleys tower. always a good challenge, and holly f#$k these cruisers can crawl. Lots of uphill steps ruts and offset mounds, 1st gear low and she loved it. But it did feel weird driving a solid front end, they flex around and act so much different to the ifs lux. Overall really happy with the suspension travel and clearence of the ultimate kit. No photos but will head up another time soon and get some pics. Since i last updated i now have arb scrub bars, tjm fibre glass flares and a Dual battery system. System is in and main system consists of an arb dual battery tray that sits next to the starter battery, Century marine 100ah battery and a Cteck 250sdual as the isolator/charger.

Made up a simple plate to hold charger and fuse block. Was the only sutiable place i could find

Image

Plan is to wire in the factory cd player,Factory incab cig plugs, Anderson plugs for canopy when is completed and 12v outlets on the tray for weekends without the canopy.

nice setup Donk, just got the same fuel filter in last week. Found a bracket so I could fit it in the engine bay.

What size (in gap) is your rear wheel arch, I need to redo mine as a 33 or 35 inch wheel wont fit under mine the way it is.

From the top of rim to bottom of tray sits around the 410-420mm with a medium load on. And from the bottom of the front folded steel gaurd to the rear gaurd is 950mm gap

Sure is  Things will start to pick up when the canopy is finished. New tray id say will be on before or just after xmas maybe ;)

Extremly happy with it. Just walked over everything, when it lifted a wheel in the rear the lsd is actually pretty tight, just enought to keep you moving till it comes back down. Lots more clearence than the lux.
